I’m a small town girl with big dreams… and I give all the credit to my God and my Family for leading the way!
I was born and raised in Mullins, South Carolina surrounded by the love of my family, creativity and lots of imagination. I stayed with my Granny Pauline during the Summer days while my parents were working… and sometimes on rainy days, she’d let me play on her sewing machine. I would make little Barbie beds, and tiny pillows for my babydolls… but as soon as the rain stopped and the sun popped out, I hit the ground running back outside!
I moved (just down the highway) to North Myrtle Beach, SC after high school to attend college .. and thank goodness for that elective Sociology class I was dreading. I met my soul mate in that class, and we got married in 2005. ❤
Cory and I didn’t have a spectacular destination honeymoon, we just got in the car and drove.. And anywhere south of us was game! We were LOVING St. Augustine, FL when our folks called and said we best get back home – Hurricane Katrina was about to wreak havoc.
Two months after our wedding, and two months after the massive destruction of Katrina.. Cory and I packed our bags and hit the road to help. We moved to the small town of Wiggins, MS – smack dab in between Gulfport & Hattiesburg. His grandfather had been living there for a while, and his parents came from Wisconsin to set up shop. They roofed, built, cleaned, encouraged … and helped people in need. It was definitely a life-changing experience for all of us. And Wiggins, Mississippi is where I fell in love with my sewing machine.
Fast forward to present, and the love I have for sewing and creating has magnified about 11 million times more. Cory and I took up “home” back in North Myrtle Beach, SC- where the days are long, the beaches are wide, the love is thick and the sun steady shines! (Y’all should definitely visit!)
Every day I give thanks! To God, to my husband, my family, my friends, fans, clients, and.. God again! I am so humbled by this gift He’s given me, and blessed beyond measure. Making these quilts and priceless treasures for families was in His plan for me. I pray that I will be doing this for as long as I live, and that my quilts & things will be cherished long after I’m gone.
