A review.

The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man.

That was my answer yesterday.

I’ve been making quilts since 2010, y’all, and I’m SO incredibly grateful for that! I love my job, the people I work with, the precious baby clothes, t-shirts, and every little detail of this path I’m on. I Love, love, love it ALL!

But yesterday was a little different… I made a beautiful quilt (in my opinion), but the client was just not happy with it, and I’m anticipating a bad review on my Etsy shop page in the near future. This shook my ego to the core because this has never happened to me. I’ve tried my best to explain and reason, apologize and rationalize, & explain some more, but they’re just not happy.

It was an older lady friend that set me straight. She said, “Honey, it’s probably not you at all. You don’t know what this person is dealing with in their life right now and maybe they just took it out on you in that moment. You shouldn’t worry about it one more second, but just pray for them.”

Ms. B’s got it figured out, y’all.. and sometimes we just need a word from the wise to redirect our focus. So instead of worrying about a review this ONE client may leave, I’ll simply pray for them, hoping that when they see their sweet quilt in person-they’ll see it for what it is; a work of art and a labor of love. I’ll turn my focus to the HUNDREDS of clients I’ve worked with in the past and the JOY they’ve each brought to me, while preparing my heart and mind for all the clients I’ll be blessed to work with in the future.

Me and my paperwork stack of LOVES past

Me and my paperwork stack of LOVES past

Every single client holds a special place in my heart and every quilt was made with 100% LOVE. Most of my clients are now close friends, and we keep in touch regularly. So many of them have blessed me in many different ways.. extra prayers when I really needed them the most, sweet cards and gifts that I’ll cherish forever, and lifelong connections with moms who have walked down this gruesome infertility boulevard. If it were not for these quilts I’ve made, I wouldn’t have these people in my life.. and I know, without a doubt, God brought so many of them to me at exactly the right time.

So, I will remain grateful for my job and the people I work with, proud of and committed to the work that I do, continue walking and working with an honest and open heart, always praying for past and future clients, and FIND LOVE IN IT ALL!

For I know that my final and most important review will be the one given by God, and my ultimate goal in life is to get 5 stars of approval from HIM!
