A Smile.
One simple gesture that can portray so many emotions of the heart. A curl of the lips that sends shock waves through your entire body, a calming medicine to rattled nerves, a relief that no amount words could ever bring forth, and just.pure.joy. These are some of the feelings I get when a customer sends me a photo of a smiling face with their special memory quilt.
A lot of you may know that I work with amazing people all over the globe- y’all send your precious goodies to me from miles away, placing complete trust in me, my hands and my vision. That’s a HUGE deal, and I’m honored and humbled by every email, every deposit, and every box that arrives on my doorstep. It takes a lot of guts to trust a total stranger with some of your most valuable items.. much less 100’s (sometimes 1000’s) of miles away. I get it. And it’s always been my promise to treat each piece of clothing like it were one of my own.. with the utmost respect and LOVE!
A sweet customer (turned friend) sent me this ADORABLE photo of her precious daughter a few weeks ago. Natalee received a quilt from me in 2013 made of her precious first year outfits and her awesome Momma thought it would be a great addition to her “big girl bed!” The look on Natalee’s face is priceless, don’t y’all agree? I’m sure she’s more excited about having her big girl bed, adorned with her most favorite stuffed animals and princesses, all together in her BIG GIRL room, but I’d like to think her genuine expression is all about that quilt.. hehe š
Natalee’s little brother, Benji, just received his very own quilt also.. and talk about cute?!!!! Y’all just don’t know.. this family has some amazing genes that produce the CUTEST kids!
This is Benji with his brand new quilt… I told y’all he was adorable! And these are the photos that make my heart almost leap outta my chest.
All the hours, all the work, and all the love.. this right here is my ultimate reward. To know these quilts are cherished and loved, and will be for so many years to come.. that is my purpose, that is why I do what I do, that is why I LOVE my job!
The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” I know that Paul was speaking to the church about tithing, but I feel that this is also a substantial lesson in the works that we do. I take so much pride in my work because I’m ultimately working for God.. He is my boss and I want to do a great job for Him. I know He has called me to this profession because of the path He’s made for me to be here.. and I will give thanks to Him for every client, every stitch, every quilt, and every step along the way!
It’s my goal to do my job the best that I can with the talents and skills that God has given me. I want to make people smile, which in turn, makes me smile. And my ultimate goal is the hear the Lord say to me, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” With a smile. ā¤
Here are a few photos some adorable smiling faces I’ve worked with throughout the years….
